Buddhism

I think most of Japanese don't so much care about our religion in our dairy life.
However, we defnitely connect with Buddhism in our whole life.
For example, if one of my family die, we will cremate a body and call a monk to read a sutras.
It is typical Japanese funeral.
Many people receive company holidays during the Bon period and go back to their hometowns. Because, It is believed these spirits return to their families during the period, so we must go back to our hometown to comfort these spirits.
Japanese supiritual also connect with Buddhism.
Actually, we tend to believe "Gokuraku" . Especially, "Mujyou" is heart of Japanese spirits.
It means everything gonna be changing and goes around.

I think a lot of Japanese people don't realize how things they do every day relate to Buddhism, or Shinto. Sometimes we understand so little about our own culture.

Yes, I think so, too. Many Japanese don't care about Buddism. Although we conduct a lot of actions related to Buddism unconsciously. I also agree with Rolf. I know that he knows more and more things about Japan. I'm ashamed!!

I return my hometown every bon period. I believe that it is very important and I must do it.
